Description
The art shows preschool children learning about ranch life from their father. The girl holds a sleeping dairy goat (Nubian goat) and rides horseback with her father in a pasture.
Hand-drawn images from an authentic Nebraska ranch family, colored with oil glazes, are shown with prairie grasses. Thank you to April for giving me permission to drawn from her family photos!
The colors are soft blue, chestnut brown, light gray, peach glow, and creamy beige, with a few touches of buttery yellow. It has a burlap background in light bluish gray.
The name "foxtail" is applied to a number of grasses that have bushy spikes that resemble fox tails. Some have spikelets that are hazardous to animals. The ones I included in my drawings are usually safe to animals.
Most of my art profession since 1989 has been in portraiture.
