Two sisters enjoy pretend tea in the shade of a tree on an Iowa farm in early summer. Teddy bear and dolly join the fun, sitting on a quilt sewn by the great-grandmother of the girls. Soybeans grow in the background, showing promise of a fine harvest when autumn comes. The pastel teddy is sewn from chenille, a fabric that is named from a caterpillar whose fur the yarn is supposed to resemble, which makes the bear great for cuddles.
Pastel painting commission of 1996, added to Fine Art American in 2018, it has the storybook look of Romantic Realism art, fanciful and endearing.
