This girl is gentle with her pet bird, which trusts her. On a balmy afternoon in September, both go outside on the deck, where leaves from a sycamore tree have been falling all day. The warm sun lights up Charity's face and braided hair. It makes her bird Sunshine glow like its name. Charity has beautiful wool embroidery on her dress, stitches created in the artist's imagination and painted delicately with her brush.
A cockatiel (cockateel) is a small gray Australian parrot, though some have been bred to be white or mottled. It has a prominent crest that is yellow in males.
The art has colors of blue, green, and brown, with a touch of yellow & orange on the bird. These dark colors make the bird seem to glow.
Since the original oil painting is small, I scanned it at 600 ppi. I then enhanced and refined it with some digital painting on Photoshop. Now it can be reproduced at larger print sizes with great beauty and detail.
