This friendly girl and her pet cockatiel live in my neighborhood. The cockatiel enjoyed trying to capture her hair barrette, as if it were saying: "I Want It! It's mine! It's my sparkly trinket!" Charity has a dress design created by the artist and a hair clasp inspired by a Victorian design. I added a flower from a local garden.
A cockatiel (cockateel) is a small gray Australian parrot, though some have been bred to be white or mottled. It has a prominent crest that is yellow in males.
The art has colors of blue, green, and brown, with a touch of yellow & orange on the bird. These dark colors make the white/yellow/orange bird seem to glow.
Since the original oil painting is small, I scanned it at 600 ppi. I then enhanced and refined it with some digital painting on Photoshop. Now it can be reproduced at larger print sizes with great beauty and detail.
