The central oil painting, "Summer Joy," has a decorative birdhouse and potted flowers of impatiens, violas, and mandevilla. The diagonal border arises from the violas. Watercolor mandevilla blooms grace the corners of the central panel. The background suggests the peace of water moving gently.
For the art, I was inspired by the home and garden of Mary Lynch in the town where I live. The wicker took a long time to paint, which gave me new appreciation for craftspersons who build wicker furniture.
