Description
On an indigo blue-gray background, watercolor flowers form a wreath shape.
I (Nancy Lee Moran) painted in watercolor the peach iris, wild rose, daffodil, columbine, viola, and petunia. I painted the periwinkle flowers and leaves, also the central tulip, in oil paint.
The reddish leaves come from one of my favorite trees, the tricolor (tri color) beech. Its tri-cornered seeds are called beechnuts. The oval leaves have wavy edges, which I find charming. Its leaves are variegated variations of gray-green, pink, eggplant-deep-purple, and white. The pink color reminds me of a beautiful watercolor pigment named rose madder. (Note to fellow painters: natural Rose Madder is a color that fades. Some companies make a synthetic version that is considered to be permanent, non-fading.)
