Title
Bunnies in the Blooms
Artist
Nancy Lee Moran
Medium
Painting - Oil On Board
Description
I painted "Bunnies in the Blooms" from photos of the Angelique tulips growing in my garden. I changed the flower colors to vivid ones. To me, the entwining tulip leaves seemed like a musical composition by Nature. I stayed true to it in my painting, adding two rabbits nestled therein.
In October 2019, the original oil painting was sold by Lewis Art Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska. To protect the integrity of the original painting, I am offering prints in sizes that differ from the size of the original art (12 x 16 inches).
Samantha Chadwick let me take photos of the adorable bunnies that she raises. Then only three weeks old, the Holland Lop and Dutch rabbits were like sleepy babies, yet capable of sudden bursts of speed. For their safety, I took photos indoors near a large window. Having fur soft as buttery silk, the bunnies liked to huddle together.
You can see my reference photos of tulips and rabbits at the bottom of the following blog page on my website.

Beautiful and cute. Of course the bright colors pull us right in, but the surprise of the little bunnies hiding in the shadows is a real delight. Congratulations on the 3rd place win (that's what I consider it) in the recent Spring contest.
